The next morning, Rumor arose to her son laying snug next to her, opposed to being in a five star hotel having a little vacation at the side of a man who had absolute money and power. She was determined to make the day count.

After getting dressed, she headed down to the kitchen to cook breakfast, but was interrupted by the sound of the home phone on the bar. The CALLER ID told her it was Travis calling and she hoped he wasn’t calling to beg her to come back to Miami when basically she was forced out after she decided to stay. “Hello,” she hummed.

“What did you do to Zeus?” he asked with his voice sounding a bit raspy, almost as if he were sleeping.

“What do you mean? I haven’t done anything.”

“We’re on our way back to fucking Red Oak in two hours, Rumor. The man is not in his right mind, and it was all after he talked to you. What did you say to him?”

“Why does it have to be something I said?” she questioned though she knew it had to have been her with the way he blankly stared after she announced she wasn’t into him, and with him breaking his champagne glass with his bare hand.

“We usually don’t leave for Texas until Sunday night, but we all woke up to him still being angry after last night, demanding that we all pack up and go home. Now Rumor I love you, but there were a list of reasons I wanted you to stay away from Zeus. This being one of those reasons. He might be a powerful individual, but he’s also fragile. The slightest thing you do could trigger his emotions. That’s exactly what you did when you said or did whatever it was yesterday.”

“I just told him he wasn’t… my type,” she mumbled at the tail of her sentence.

“Are you stupid?!” he roared. “Rumor you can’t say things like that to an egotistical maniac! Because of you, his head is so fucked up that two guys… you know what?! Get ready to work. So when we get there, you’ll be putting up his clothes and shit. We have to pull an all-nighter when we arrive, so that means your ass is about to sweat like you’re a fat bitch at aerobics class. I can’t believe this shit.”

“Why do I have to work? I’m on vacation.”

“Because he needs his clothes put up, his guests need refreshments, and the house needs to stay spotless during and after his guests’ visit. Look what you’ve done to us.”

“Travis—”

“See you in four hours.”

Rumor leaned back and looked at the phone after hearing the click of Travis releasing her from hearing his bitching and complaining, and shook her head at it. How in the hell did she find herself in this mess?
